11/16/2023 0 Comments Mixcraft hijacks my audio![]() Other DAW's with no audio device issues, at least on my on my setup: Sonar Platinum (last release Nov 17, both 32 and 64 bit), Studio One 3 Pro (last release), PG's PTPA 2017 and Real Band (those are only 32 bit DAW's), FL 12 and FL 20 (again both 32 and 64), Samplitude Pro X3, Tracktion 7 and Wave, Reaper, and I think I'm forgetting one but again these DAW's ALL work with FAS FX III as the Audio device - no issues. I don't use FX III as audio device (normally) I simply switched to the FAS audio device for this check (I've been using a Focusrtie audio card long before I even had an FX III so no reason to "muck" with a perfectly good set up). "they did have some problems with USB MIDI messages from some DAWs."Įven if true I have no idea why USB MIDI issues would impact the AUDIO driver so am at loss at this point Quote is from Acoustica saying Matt said: I have reported to Acoustic they wanted me to report it to FAS I saw no reason besides at this point they just emailed me to say they talked with Matt and his only thought (back to Acoustica not me) was to make sure I was running most current FW release on FX III, I was and am (FW 1.18) because there was some issues previously with USB MIDI. I usually use this for archiving project copies, but it can also help if you have scattered files.FYI - of all the DAW's I own - Mixcraft 8 both 32 and 64 bit (current build 413) is only one that does NOT recognize FAS (AXE FX III) audio device (ASIO). You also have the option of using the "copy project files to" to save the existing project and all the currently used assets into a folder of your choice and name. ![]() If you put it somewhere else, the recordings etc. ![]() "Save as" gives you the opportunity to rename the project file (I use this for saving versions as I progress through a project) and the opportunity to set a location. OCD perhaps.) *If you don't name them, you will gather a collection of unidentified folders. (As stated, I have already done this before hand. The first time you save, it should automatically create a folder, and give you the option to name it. Make sure your recording tab setting is still set to that^^^ original default setting. I have never lost a file or content this way so far.Īnd I highly recommend using the default location of "Documents/Mixcraft projects/" to keep things tidy. This could be because the computer has slowed down due to other programs running at the same time, a slow hard drive, or various other reasons. Hi and work a little different than some, and create my own project folders at the start. I personally would warn that doing too much of it as a final step often has a negative effect on your mix, and generally warn against focusing on that too much until one gains experience. (All my machines are 64bit, I need to check the FX) (edit: I started Mixcraft, created a new project, created 4 virtual inst tracks for sounds from Mixcrafts library and added 2 Mixcraft FXs on 2 of the tracks. When you go to arm tracks for recording, arm them on the side that has the audio (left or right). Choose Preferences, and in the Sound Device preferences, switch to ASIO and make sure you choose the ASIO driver for your Scarlett 2i2. Many people focus on the loudness component in their description of "mastering" yet some people get most of that within the mix, others as a final step. I figured it was a bit sampling rate conflict. Hi, Hook it up, then fire up Mixcraft and click on the File menu. Usually I am going to be doing that on the track itself, not the master bus. The master bus effects all tracks if thats what you want.įor me, volume automation is usually part of mixing the track, with the exception of occasionally fading in or out if necessary. The decision would, as I described above, depend on just what you are trying to achieve. ![]() Your last question asked about volume automation. And ten different people are probably going to provide ten different methods. Some people suggest involving a separate set of ears.Īdvising on what to do or how to do anything specific would really require an understanding of intent. ![]() To me, "mastering" is usually a set of songs to create an EP, LP, CD, or some kind of playlist, where you set the order, spacing or gaps between, perhaps fade in/out automation and eq and level of each so they sound like they belong together etc.īut in todays streaming world, we often end up focused on the single.Īnd the decision whether to place processing on the master track of an open mix or to mix down then master. But if its just one song, it is IMO really just an extension of mixing. I dont feel there is any one "correct" set of methods. I think calling it a "master track" misleads a lot of people.Īs Myran points out, it is simply the main bus, also sometimes called the "stereo bus" or "two bus" that all other tracks are summed to.Īs to how to use it, that would vary by user preference. ![]()
